What in-home care covers

Care that keeps the day intact

When families search for a home care agency in Indianapolis, they are rarely looking for a list of tasks. They are looking for a Wednesday that feels like a Tuesday. For their father to keep his independence, and their own peace of mind, at the same time.

Sovereign provides non-medical in-home care: hands-on help with the parts of the day that have gotten harder, delivered by caregivers who treat your home as a home and not a worksite. We support seniors aging in place, adults recovering from surgery or illness, and individuals living with disabilities who want to stay in the house they know.

This is home care, not home health. There is no nurse, no prescription, no clipboard at the door. There is a person who knows which mug is the good one, which step on the porch is loose, and what time the afternoon program comes on. That is the work, and we take it seriously.

How in-home care begins

01

Call 317-654-4609

One short call to tell us what is going on at home. We will tell you in plain language what we can help with, and what we cannot.

02

Free in-home consultation

We come to you, usually the same week and same day when the need is urgent. Your family meets the person who would lead the care plan.

03

Care begins, and stays

A caregiver is matched to your routine and personality. Your family gets a weekly check-in from Sovereign, not a monthly invoice with nothing behind it.

Stories, in their own words

★★★★★

My MIL, who was still working full-time, had an acute stroke affecting her memory. A current client referred us to Nataya at Sovereign Care. She and the staff are very knowledgeable. I appreciate their compassion and patience with my family's learning curve. This staff has definitely been a blessing during a time in need.

They truly care about the client. They help find resources for any individual problem and will fight for you to make sure quality of life is met. We had an incident where Medicaid wasn't giving the client all of her hours. Sovereign helped us fill out the forms and submit them. I got my hours paid for.

My sister, who has Down syndrome, requires patient and personalized support. Sovereign didn't just assign a caregiver, they matched her with someone who celebrates her strengths and encourages her independence. It is more than a service. It is a relationship built on respect.

Questions families ask

In-home care, answered

Cost depends on how many hours of care you need each week and the level of support involved. Private-pay rates are quoted clearly before care starts, with no long-term contract. For families who qualify, Indiana Medicaid Waiver can cover much or all of the cost, and we complete that paperwork for you. The honest answer comes after a free in-home consultation, where we look at the real situation rather than guess at a number over the phone.

In-home care is non-medical. It covers personal care, homemaker help, meals, companionship, and transportation. Home health is skilled medical care, such as nursing visits or therapy ordered by a doctor. Sovereign provides in-home care. If your loved one also needs skilled medical services, we will tell you plainly and help you coordinate with the right provider.

Yes. Every caregiver is screened, background-checked, and continuously coached. Sovereign is CQL-accredited, which means we are held to the same quality framework the state trusts for its most complex care. Your caregiver is our employee, not a contractor you have to vet yourself.

For urgent situations, we can often complete the in-home consultation the same day you call and begin care within days. When Medicaid Waiver approval is involved, the timeline depends on the state, but we manage that process for you and can usually bridge with private-pay care in the meantime so no one is left without help.

You are never left scrambling. Because your caregiver is part of a coordinated team, we arrange a trained backup who is briefed on the care plan before they arrive. Consistency matters to us, so we keep the same primary caregiver whenever possible and only substitute when we must.

For eligible individuals, yes. Indiana's Medicaid Waiver programs can fund services like Attendant Care and Structured Family Care. The application can be confusing, which is why we handle it start to finish. Call us and we will walk you through whether your loved one is likely to qualify.

Always. Care plans are flexible and reviewed regularly through check-ins and quality-of-life reviews. As routines, health, or family availability shift, we adjust the plan with you, and we communicate changes clearly so the whole family stays in the loop.
